Fabletics January 2016 Review

Despite fit issues with last month's Fabletics, I couldn't miss out on this month's snuggly winter wear.  And the super-soft, comfy lounge outfit I received ("Hemisphere") is a winner.  In fact, it might be my favourite Fabletics outfit to date!!

For those who are unfamiliar with Fabletics, they offer monthly workout outfits (or loungewear, if you're more like me) starting at $49.95 for VIPs (and seemingly at $10 increments from that point depending on the items and the number of items - outfits tend to be 2 or 3 pieces).  It is a subscription program so at the beginning of each month, you must either choose an outfit or opt out for that month - if you fail to do either, you will be charged the $49.95 minimum cost although you can later use that money to make a purchase (it's not like a punishment fee or anything).  To make things even more enticing, Fabletics offers your first month at half price - that's $25 for one of the cheaper outfits (or half of whatever the cost is of the outfit you choose).  Note the phrasing there:  "first month" - that means that taking advantage of this offer will set you up in their VIP program and you will then either need to purchase/skip each month. . . or I guess you could take advantage of the offer and then cancel if you really wanted to.

Now that that's out of the way, on to this month's outfit!

This month, I snagged the super snuggly Hemisphere outfit for $69.95 US. . . which means I used up my credits from last month's return plus $10 and shipping and exchange.

Hemisphere (Newport Hoodie and Hamilton Long Sweatpant) plus a 3-Pack of Thongs (Tropical Multi Colours)

3-Pack Thong in Tropical Multi ($19.95 VIP pricing, $29.95 regular pricing)

First things first, these.undies.rock.  They also sell full-butt ones and less flashy colours if that's your preference.  And they are the most comfortable things ever.  I picked up a 3-pack on Black Friday and loved them so much I needed (need?) to get more.  Since having a c-section, I just don't have the patience for any uncomfortable underwear - especially any that have rough seams anywhere near my scar.  These are seamless and so soft.  Worth every penny.  Trust me.

Hamilton Long Sweatpants ($34.95 VIP pricing, $49.95 regular pricing)

As you can see, these feature a drawstring waist.  As you can not see, since I neglected to snap a pic of it, they also have elastics at the ankle - which is not something I'd have ever worn ten years ago but now, I love.  They're easier to tuck into boots that way. . . and in Canada, in January, boots are a necessity when going anywhere.  They are really soft and I love them.  Two wishes:  a one inch higher rise (seems to be a frequent request with me and Fabletics items - I think I'm just getting a little too old, and self-conscious after 2 kids, to wear low-slung pants?) and also I wish they washed just a little better.  They shed a lot of lint and are already pilling on high wear areas (read: inner thighs).  So that's a little disappointing.  Still, I will wear these until they fall apart because I love them :)

Newport Hoodie ($39.95 VIP pricing, $59.95 regular pricing)

This is in the same snuggly fabric as the sweatpants and I opted for the same colour.  Both were also available in a much lighter heather grey which is not my cup of tea.  This hoodie features a flattering draping in the front which I wish was stitched at least part of the way up. . . it can (and sometimes does) fall right open so I'd recommend a cami or, if you're more adventurous, a stylish sports bra underneath for sure.  Again, it could be one inch longer and that would be perfect but it's still pretty flattering and comfortable.

Overall Verdict:

After a disappointing shipment last month, this month's outfit is great.  Aside from a few minor quibbles with the fit, it's comfortable, flattering and just perfect for curling up with a book, cup of tea and sheet mask. . . yes, those are my go-to stress-relievers.  And the underwear, well, if you have never felt strongly about a pair of underwear, I suggest you check these out - total game changer, imo.

If this inspires you to try out Fabletics this year (whether you're looking to be more "fab" and lounge-y or "fab" and athletic!), your use of my links would be much appreciated.  Thanks!
